Ready to Go Cruisin’?

A pair of his-and-hers e-bikes will be yours
if you’re the winner in our next Treasure Hunt!

THE CRUISER-STYLE BIKES you see here are built in small-town Wisconsin. Rakish and retro with their classic saddles and whitewall tires, they’ll provide a stylish ride for the lucky winner in our next Wisconsin Treasure Hunt.

That could be you.

If you like the looks of these bikes and would care to join in the hunt to win them, here’s the backstory on our contest…

To pump up the fun in our pages, we’ve run our Wisconsin Treasure Hunts for 12 years now. We hide a key in a park somewhere in this state and challenge readers to find it.

Issue by issue, we provide clues and narrow the search area by eliminating 10 counties on a Wisconsin map. Slowly the mystery unfolds until a resourceful reader puts it all together and takes home a super prize.

We’ve given away two new cars, two new boats and custom camping trailers. For many reasons, we think this prize package is our best yet!

The idea came to us from reader Clara Metz of Minocqua, who suggested a package of his-and-hers e-bikes with accessories.

Thanks, Clara! Now why didn’t we think of that?

So Many Places to Ride

Networks of bike trails are expanding in Wisconsin every year. From the Heart of the North system in Vilas and Iron counties, to the rails-to-trails routes at Elroy-Sparta and more, we’re blessed with abundant opportunities to ride through some beautiful country.

These days, bicycling fans from teens to retirees love e-bikes. These cycles have opened a lot more opportunity for older riders to get out, get active and hit the trails without worry about challenging hills. A little pedal assist helps once in a while.

But what about exercise?

Just switch off the power and pedal all you wish, then take a break when you’d like one. It adds up to a pleasant ride…and isn’t that what it’s all about?

“Anything that gets people away from digital screens and into the outdoors to experience Wisconsin is positive,” says Kevin Boon, president of Small Town Bike Company in Hingham.

No arguments here, Kevin. Enjoying all that Wisconsin has to offer is a mission of this magazine. Another is to introduce readers to hidden gems to visit along Wisconsin’s scenic backroads. The small town of Hingham qualifies.

Miles of Smiles

“But now the door is open for them. Everyone knows how to ride a bike and no one forgets. We started this business to hearken back to that. The returning riders always have a smile, they love it, they’re having a blast.”

Small Town Bike Company ships hundreds of e-bikes across the country each year.  Quality components are sourced worldwide, then assembled by technicians at the plant in Hingham, following Dustin’s comfortable design.

The cruiser model offers a more upright ride than most modern bikes—there’s no need to bend forward. Its step-through frame allows easy mounting and dismounting. And there’s much more.

Small Town Bike Company was founded by Dustin Veldkamp, an electrical engineer who was intrigued when he first saw an e-bike on a Sheboygan trail in 2018.

The lucky winner of our contest will receive a prize package worth $5,700 in retail value.

Included are…

  • Two cruiser-style e-bikes in the colors of your choice.

The Contest Works This Way

  • The key is hidden in a public park to avoid trespassing.

  • This contest is not limited to paid subscribers.

  • Starting in the Jun/Jul21 issue, we’ll print a map showing the counties where the key ISN’T hidden. Then, issue by issue, we’ll eliminate 10 more counties to narrow the search.

  • A new clue will be provided each issue.

  • The key is in a clear biodegradable bag with a note stating, “You Found It!” along with a phone number to call and a secret code number that will be requested.

  • Your only license to hunt is a garbage bag. By collecting litter, you provide a public benefit. The bag’s benefit to you is that you won’t look as if you’re searching for something and invite competition.

  • Don’t call us. No calls will be accepted by Our Wisconsin about this program.

  • Don’t ask our field editors about the hidden key. These friendly volunteers know nothing more about the program than regular readers do.

  • No employee of the magazine or relative of any employee—nor any of our field editors—is eligible to win.

  • Past winners and their immediate family members are not eligible to win.

  • The contest is open to anyone else of any age.

Ready to Join the Hunt to win this great package? The Feb/Mar issue of Our Wisconsin will list our first clue and the first 10 counties to be eliminated.
